 ‘It’s our time to shine’

Thorpe Willoughby School is proud to be one of five primary schools in North Yorkshire enhanced by the Local Authority.

The enhanced mainstream schools provide support and outreach services to meet the needs of children and young people with communication and interaction needs who require additional and different support to enable them to learn in their local community school.

Our specialised team is based in the Lighthouse room in the heart of the school and meet the needs of children and young people within mainstream settings to help them reach their potential.

Launch of the Chatter Trail

The “Stay and Play” session was a great a success, below are a few photographs, taken on the day, of the reception children playing and chatting with their Parents and Carers.

The chatterboxes are now being taken home each weekend by different children in the Reception classes. Each box contains a surprise and something simple to do together. It will also stimulate talking together.

The children take the lead to talk about the items, create stories with them, play with them and pretend. You might even like to explore the theme of your box further. It is up to you and your child and should be fun!

We would love to see photographs of the children engaging with the activities in the chatterboxes. Please e-mail them into school.
